TSU Foundation Scholarships for 2016-2017 Academic Year, Deadline: March 31, 2016

March 22, 2016

https://tnstate.academicworks.com/

If you are a Tennessee State University student, you should apply for the TSU Foundation Scholarships.

Deadline for scholarship applications is March 31, 2016.

Only online applications will be accepted.

Scholarship funding is limited and meeting the minimum requirements for a scholarship does not guarantee selection.

Scholarship awards will be emailed to the student’s university email address.

Students can monitor the status of their applications online at any time during the process.

Once the system sends scholarship offers to students, students will have 2 weeks to respond, including uploading the required documents, or the scholarship offer can be rescinded and rewarded to another student.

The above information comes from a flyer sent out in student email. You will need your mytsu username and password to start the application process.

Don’t wait to the last minute. Some of these scholarships require essays or recommendations.

The above process is tied in with your school records, so if you have filled out the FAFSA, then you information will be available to determine need.

100 Scholarships List and Scholarship Reminder List

June 30, 2015

http://www.thepennyhoarder.com/100-college-scholarships/

100 Awesome Scholarships that will Help You Pay for College—this list of scholarships was forwarded to me by the Languages, Literature and Philosophy professor, Dr. Jeff Thompson.

In looking over this list, you want to make note of future scholarships or programs that may apply to you if they are closed.

I would suggest opening a Microsoft Word document or other program such as Wordpad and entitle it your name and scholarships.

Scholarship 33 of this list is Life Lessons Scholarship Program, noting from the website, “Applicants must submit an essay or short video about the effect of losing a parent during childhood. The grand prize is $15,000; apply by March 3.”

Here is the link: http://www.lifehappens.org/life-lessons-scholarship-program/

In reading the official rules, you learn that the contest opened on Feb 2, 2015, and closed on Mar 3, 2015.

Further, you learn the following: “The Life Lessons Scholarship Program is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, who are between 17 and 24 years of age, have experienced the death of a parent or legal guardian, and are currently enrolled in, or have been accepted to, a college, university or trade school within the fifty (50) United States, the District of Columbia or Puerto Rico.”

If you find you cannot qualify for this scholarship, you can move on.

However, if you do qualify, type January, letting yourself know that you should check on this scholarship in January.

Type 1, Type “Life Lessons Scholarship,” cut and paste the link to the scholarship, and the criteria.

I would then type in March, copying the information above, and then type Due early March to add to the information.

Keep a running tab of scholarships you can apply for and when they are due. Your list should grow.

Periodically, send a copy of this to your email as an attachment, so that you have that list in case you ever lose it.

Now, you have a growing scholarship list, noting dates and times you should look them over. The reason you check in January is because the scholarship program dates may change, and you can find that out if you check early enough.

Comprehensive Scholarship Guides Available Made Clearer

I gave several presentations about how to search for scholarships and internships in Spring 2015.

These are often very comprehensive, geared toward the audience I present them too.

This contains information that can be applied to students in middle school also.

If any links are out of date, google for the most recent information.

If deadlines for scholarships have passed, create a Word document (or other word processing program), cut and paste the link, and put above the link the most likely date it will return next year. For example, the Buick Achievers Scholarship will most likely be open in January 2016 (past deadline: end of February 2015).

Keep this list handy and saved, so you can constantly update it.

Also, if you are an adult returning to college or wishing to enter college for the first time, you can gleam good information from both presentations.
