Scholarship Summer: $5,000 Worth of Curated Scholarships and How to Find More using AI

May 11, 2026

This summer, I will be curating and listing scholarships, so that you can apply for scholarships during May and the rest of the summer to help you achieve a more money less college debt Fall 2026 semester!

2. https://apexminecrafthosting.com/minecraft-scholarship/

$2,000 Minecraft Scholarship, D: July 31, 2026

From website:

Students must be a U.S. citizen, 3.0 or higher GPA, and currently enrolled in college or high school.

“Write a short essay of no less than 500 words about your opinion on how Minecraft can be a positive influence on education and career development. Fill out the information form below with your essay and appropriate information.”

How I Used AI to find Summer Scholarships

I used Google Gemini AI to find these scholarships. There were many more listed: I used the prompt “little known scholarships with deadlines after May 4, 2026” without the quotation marks.

Why don’t you try the same prompt using today’s date and find more scholarships with upcoming deadlines? And try other prompts too.

However, don’t use AI to help you write scholarship essays. Many scholarships forbid this in their official rules.

April brings Scholarship Showers—More Than $20,000 in Scholarship Possibilities

April 10, 2026

April is a busy month for scholarships, and April is also the last month of the semester.

Consider breaking down scholarship applications into bite size pieces, such as 5-, 10-, or 25- minute tasks.

Or if you find yourself working better by time-boxing, set aside sessions of 1 1/2 -3 hours to focus on a scholarship and working on the steps necessary to finish the tasks.

Here are several scholarships that TSU students and potential students should consider.

Tennessee State University Foundation Scholarship are Open!!!

https://tnstate.academicworks.com/opportunities

TSU Foundation Scholarships

The Tennessee State University Foundation Scholarships are open, and only TSU students (and in some cases, those soon to be) can apply for Foundation scholarships.

For an overview of the different TSU scholarships, click the link above.

Once you have reviewed some of the scholarship opportunities, you can use your TSU username and password to complete the General Application:  https://tnstate.academicworks.com/users/sign_in

As you complete the General Application, save as you go along. Don’t worry if you don’t finish. You can come back to finish later.

Also, once you have completed the General Application, you will see what scholarships you might be qualified for, but some of the scholarships may require additional information, such as 250 word statement of your goals or confirmation of where you live.

How to Make Your TSU University Foundation Application Stand Out

  • Scholarship funding is limited, so you want your scholarship application to stand out and highlight what makes you unique and different.
  • Often students just list brief information in what they do. This will severely put you at a disadvantage to those students who go into more detail.
  • Think of what you are doing now and what you did in high school and make a list. You will remember things as you go along, and you can add these to your application.
  • Identify positions (volunteer, president, co-founder, vice-president, founder, etc.)
  • Identify organizations, including briefly what the organization does or is
  • Identify responsibilities or activities you did for that organization and go into brief but “telling” detail
  • If you held responsibilities that called upon leadership skills, highlight them.
  • You want to make sure your grammar and punctuation are consistent and correct.
  • You can save and go back to your application, as necessary.
  • Once you submit your application, you can then start applying to separate scholarships for which you are qualified. Some of these require answering questions to make sure you are qualified for that particular scholarship or writing a brief essay.

Qualifying for a TSU Foundation scholarship does not guarantee you will receive the scholarship.

Qualifying for a TSU Foundation scholarship does not guarantee you will receive the scholarship.

Several TSU students have set up multiple appointments with writing consultants in the TSU Writing Center to review their applications as they build them, and some have successfully received scholarships from the TSU Foundation.

Scholarships and Money from Community Foundations—Untapped Resources

December 18, 2025

Many people don’t realize that community foundations can be found all over the United States. These organizations provide funds for nonprofits, but many of them also administer local and state-wide scholarships.

Many of these scholarships have deadlines around this time or around January, February, or March.

There is a strategy for searching for scholarships from community foundations.

First, search for the Community Foundation in your area.

https://cof.org/page/community-foundation-locator

Find a Community Foundation Close to You—By using the Community Foundation locator, you can find community foundations close to you. Some community foundations serve a large city or a section of your state.

See if the community foundation administers scholarships or other programs that might be helpful to you.

Another method is to do a simple Google search using specific terms like “scholarships given by community foundations in illinois.”

This is one of the organizations that shows up: Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.

https://www.cfnil.org/scholarships

Here is the scholarship page for that organization, Deadline Feb 1, 2026 for 120 scholarships, and later deadlines for two scholarships, April 1, 2026.

Search for community foundations and see if they offer scholarships.

Second, search for a community foundation close to the college or university you want to attend.

For Scholarship Tigers (current students at Tennessee State University and future TSU students), the community foundation closest to TSU is the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT).

Community Foundation Scholarships, D: Feb 1, 2026

By studying the CFMT scholarships, you can find several that apply to TSU students (selected criteria included), such as

1. https://www.cfmt.org/funds/emmett-h-turner-scholarship-fund/

An Easy $1,000 Scholarship, Plus $33,600 in Scholarship Possibilities, and More Places to Find More

Digital Responsibility Scholarships, One worth $1,000, D: Jan 30, 2026

Some scholarships are not difficult. This one requires some thought, but only 140 characters to describe something you would rather be doing than spending time with technology.

https://www.digitalresponsibility.org/technology-addiction-awareness-scholarship

$1,000 Technology Addiction Scholarship, D: Jan 30, 2026

From webpage:

“This scholarship helps you understand the negative effects of too much screen time.

Who may apply: You must be a high school freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior or a current or entering college or graduate school student of any level. Home schooled students are also eligible. There is no age limit. You must also be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.

Young people spend an average of 7.5 hours a day consuming media—and this doesn’t include computer use for schoolwork—according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. With technology always at the ready at your fingertips, it can be a challenge to unplug. But taking a break from technology is healthy for both the mind and body. The purpose of this scholarship is to help you understand the negative effects of too much screen time.

Personal Statement

140-character statement that completes this sentence: Instead of spending time with technology, I’d rather…”
