Scholarships Galore and Writing Help from the TSU Writing Center—more than $10,000 in scholarships


 TSU Foundation Scholarships–Potentially thousands for TSU students-Deadline: Mar 31, 2020! Hurry! 

 One student who got help from the TSU Writing Center received $3,000 from a TSU Foundation scholarship last year. 

You can make your application stand out by 

  • if an organization you volunteered for is unfamiliar, then give a brief description for the organization 
  • think of 2 or 3 highlights of what you did for each organization you list 
  • work on your application a little at a time in 15, 30, and hour slots—schedule your success 
  • have tutors in the TSU Writing Center review your application and short answer essays to make them stand out and improve your chances.

$3,000 BHW Women in STEM Academic Scholarship, D: April 15, 2020

“Who is eligible: 

Women who are pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree and are majoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics during the 2020 school year. 


  • Can High School Seniors, who will be attending college next year, apply? Yes! 
  • Can Masters and Doctorate students apply? Yes! 
  • Can International students apply?   If you are attending a US-based school, yes. If your college is outside the US, you cannot apply at this time. 
  • What do we mean by “app”?   We mean any mobile or web-based application. This includes things like Instagram, Snapchat, Google Maps, etc. 
  • How is the award distributed?  Funds will be sent directly to the winner’s school.” 



$1,000 B. Davis Scholarship, D: May 22, 2020

This Scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post-secondary institution.

There is no age restriction 

Be sure to include your name and the school you are attending this year and next 

This is not an academic scholarship, but we would like to know where you are going to school now and what your future academic plans are. 

To apply for this scholarship, you will need to write an essay of less than 1000 words on the topic below:

Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most.  Discuss why you believe that these traits are so important and how you feel that they are developed in an individual.” 



$1,000 Comedy Defensive Driving Scholarship, D: Dec 31, 2020 

Selected criteria:  

“Open to students planning on or currently attending an accredited college, university or continuing education program. 

No GPA Requirement, financial requirement, or any other kind of requirement – Just knowing you are making the effort to get out of bed and do something positive before noon qualifies. 

Take the pledge to not use your phone while driving, and definitely not to drive while you’re buzzed.. And definitely don’t use your phone if driving. 

All forms of ads accepted including: PSA, commercial, music, billboards, media, graphics, etc. MUST BE AN ADVERTISEMENT WITH CLEAR CALL-TO-ACTION. 

No time restraints; however, keep in mind that you are making an advertisement, not a Ridley Scott movie 

No overt profanity 

Nudity will not be allowed. 

Plagiarism automatically disqualified.”
