I recently coached a TSU student who told me that she was going to apply to 100 scholarships. I think she will . . . and in an effort to help other Scholarship Tigers reach for more money, less debt, here is a listing of more than $50,000 in scholarships.
They are divided into scholarships for college students, scholarships for college and high school students, and scholarships for high school students (or future TSU students).
Also, I include a link to a great article that mentions several scholarship programs and opportunities.
Scholarships for College Students
$10,000 Nikon Storytellers Scholarship, Deadline: March 1, 2018
From website: “Eligibility Criteria:
You must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to receive The Nikon Storytellers Scholarship:
- You must be an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited, non-profit college/university or vocational/technical school in the United States or Canada.
- You must complete your freshman year of college or academic equivalent before Fall 2018.
- You must be majoring in visual arts, fine arts, journalism, film, photography, or multimedia/content creation.
- You must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average at time of application.
- You will need to provide a recommendation from a professor, teacher or academic advisor.
- If you are selected as a semi-finalist, you will be asked to provide a photo portfolio or video submission, description of photo/video submission and copy of academic transcript.”
- $10,000 BlueCross Power of We Scholarship, D: Mar 16, 2018
From website: “The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation, in collaboration with the Memphis chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives, offers a $10,000 (awarded in two payments of $5,000 each over the course of two consecutive semesters) college scholarship to three Tennessee minority students who wish to pursue careers in the field of health care.”

Eligibilty Criteria
All applicants must currently be undergraduate students. Awardees will be selected by the NAHSE Memphis Chapter, who meet the following criteria:
- A promising minority student with the intent to obtain a degree to pursue a career in the field of health care
- Student must be a college Sophomore or Junior by the application deadline (March 16, 2018).
- 2.5 minimum academic GPA (4.0 scale)
- Applicant must be 18 to 23 years old (by application deadline)
- Citizen of the United States.
- Resident of Tennessee AND attends an accredited college/university within the state of TN
- Applicant must be enrolled during the current academic school year, and planning to enroll the 2018-2019 school year.”

- What impact will you have on your local community or the world by following your passion?

Cornerstone Financial Credit Union Scholarship, D: March 1, 2018
One $5000 Winner and 20 $1000 Winners!
From email: “The application process is open for the 8th annual Cornerstone Financial Credit Union Scholarship Program.
College-bound high school seniors in Davidson, Dickson, Montgomery, Rutherford, Sumner and Williamson Counties, as well as Tennessee residents with a parent or guardian who is a Cornerstone member can apply.
We will select one $5000 scholarship winner and twenty $1000 scholarship winners.”
