Thurgood Marshall College Fund Scholarships, Several deadlines in April and June

  1. Deadline for TMCF Lowe’s Emergency Scholarship Program: reviewed on a rolling basis through June 30, 2017

From webpage: “The Lowe’s Emergency Scholarship Program is intended to help meet the financial needs of students of up to $5,000 who encounter an emergency situation, or one-time, unusual or unforeseen expenses during their degree program that will prevent the student from continuing in college.”

If you are a TSU student, you are enrolled in one of the 47 TMCF member-schools. This scholarship is open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students that have a minimum 2.5 GPA and “an approved plan to return to study if leave is requested.”

Since the scholarship is on a rolling basis, I take that to mean the scholarship givers will not wait to June 30, 2017, to award the money, but give it out if the need is very immediate.

If you are a college senior and money becomes a barrier to graduating, then you also need to check out the one-time award ranging from $500 to $3,100 “depending on account balance,” then you need to check out the TMCF Lowe’s Gap Scholarship, deadline June 30, 2017.

  1. Other TMCF Scholarships

Thurgood Marshall College Fund Scholarships, deadline for 5 current scholarships: April 30, 2017

There are several different scholarships, so you need to check them out to see if you qualify. Some range from $7,000 for the 2017-2018 academic school year or $6,200 for one year.

In total, about 500 different scholarships are given for students aspiring to be attending or attending 47 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)—Tennessee State University is one of those schools.

I advise students to check back every 2 weeks or so for opening scholarships.
