Info for high school seniors follows instructions for college students

Information that follows is for TSU college students:

If you are a TSU student and you would like help in refining and revising your essay, you can make an appointment in the Writing Center by emailing your complete name and dates and times you are available to mjturner@tnstate.edu.

We will email you back with a confirmation and sign you up for the next available writing tutor.

“REGIONS RIDING FORWARD® SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY CONTEST*

Who inspires you?

Of all the African-Americans who have made significant achievements and innovations for our society, is there one in particular who inspires you?

Write about an African-American who has inspired and motivated you, and you could win a $5,000 or $3,500 scholarship.

Your essay should, in 500 words or less:  (a) address how an African-American has been an inspiration in your life, and (b) discuss the contributions of the African-American individual who has served to inspire and motivate you.

College Students: Regions will award a $3,500 scholarship to sixteen freshmen, sophomores or juniors who currently attend college in or permanently reside in states with Regions branches.”

Most TSU students can enter this competition.

Also from webpage: “College Students:

  • Either be a legal U.S. resident of one of the following states or a legal resident (of one of the 50 United States or D.C.) currently attending college or university located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas or Virginia.
  • Be 16 years or older.
  • Have at least one year (or 18 credit hours) remaining before graduation.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.”

Remember, if you are a TSU student, you can receive help in refining and revising your essay by making an appointment in the Writing Center.

Read all the rules and give yourself enough time to collect material, such as a transcript.
